Overview[]


The M. H. de Young Memorial Museum (de Young Museum) is a part of the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco (FAMSF). The de Young’s collection includes over 27,000 works of art and is renowned for its holdings in American art of all periods, including painting, sculpture, decorative arts, and works on paper; the art of Africa, Oceania and the Americas; as well as costumes and textiles representing a variety of Eastern and Western traditions.

Friday (March 30 through November 30 only) 9:30 a.m. to 8:45 p.m.
  • The de Young is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Days. The museum closes at 4 pm on July 4 and December 24 (last special exhibition admission at 2:30 pm).
  • The Hamon Education Tower Observation Deck closes at 4:30 pm (8 pm Fridays from late March through November).
